This Week's Success & Failure

Success: Held my breath under water for two minutes at the pool this afternoon. Should come in handy if I ever need to...hold my breath under water for two minutes or less, I guess.

Failure: Accidentally set off the fire alarm at work (with steam from lab equipment; no fire was involved), forcing everyone in the building to stand outside in the sweltering heat. At least it wasn't raining!

Trouble at the Durham County Public Library Southwest Branch

After months of failed attempts to log in to the library website, I went in and asked the librarian if she could reset my PIN. "I've tried everything," I said. "Nothing works." She scanned my card and smiled as the information came up on her computer screen. "Did you try 1-2-3-4?" I guess I didn't try everything.
