Pepsi Throwback
>> 21 May 2009
It has sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. This is good for two reasons: (1) sugar tastes better than high fructose corn syrup, and (2) sugar does not give you cavities or make you gain weight the way that high fructose corn syrup does.
The bad news: it's not Crystal Pepsi. Now, that would be a throwback!

HOORAY for natural sugars!!
Crystal Pepsi rocked! I loved that stuff. Hey, can you grab me a can of the throwback Pepsi and save it for me? I want to taste Pepsi made with real sugar. I should be in Raleigh to visit in September.
So, did you know that table sugar (sucrose) is made up of fructose (the whole reason people are up in arms about sodas and other sweet things) and the findings that high fructose corn syrup makes you gain weight is not entirely true. Any increase in caloric intake is going to make you gain weight, regardless of the type of sugar consumed. Yes, it's true that fructose is metabolized differently in the body, however, high fructose corn syrup is not completely fructose. It's a mixture of predominately fructose and glucose. As for the claim that high fructose corn syrup causes cavities at a higher rate than sucrose, I'd like to see the published evidence. If you'd like to know more, wikipedia has a pretty accurate coverage on the subject.
It feels good to use my very expensive education in a real world application. :)
