Gold Medal for the Internet!

>> 07 August 2008

Ever since I was a baby, I have been saying two things about computers:
1. The internet is a computer that other computers can use.
2. Internet is the new TV.

When you think about it, the internet and TV are very similar:

  • They both have educational content, which can, theoretically, be accessed, but generally turn out to be simply fun and addicting ways to waste time.
  • They both operate by mysterious technology which no one completely understands. People suspect that TVs are more analog, and internets are more digital, but beyond that, we know virtually nothing about them.
  • YOU CAN WATCH THE OLYMPICS ON BOTH OF THE THEM. NBC is very stingy with their "bandwidth" when it comes to their regular programming, making you wait up to a week after the initial air-date of a show before you can watch it online. Fortunately, they are pulling out the stops for the Olympics. I am currently watching INTERNET OLYMPIC SOCCER, on my computer. HEYO!
The link is http://www.nbcolympics.com/, the internet is the new TV, and the picture that comes up when you search for "Gold Medal for the Internet" is,

What's your favorite sport/event of the games? Leave it in the comments!

In general, i hate the olympics. When i think of the olympics i think of sports that aren't really sports, steroids, terrorists, and stupid human interest stories that nbc makes up to get people who don't like sports to watch their broadcast of the olympics. i do enjoy the basketball and soccer though. mainly because those are real sports. also, way to go olympics for cutting out baseball and softball. they're only cutting those out because america dominates everyone in those and they don't want the rest of the world to feel worse than they already do that we dominate at everything.
